Why "I Don't Know" is Confusing Your Purpose, S.M. Bjarnson

Why “I Don’t Know” is Confusing Your Purpose

I am sure you get these questions all the time. What do you want to do with your life? What careers or jobs would you absolutely love doing? What areas excite you? Where do you want to be in 10 years? Have you ever sat there and even got the ugly sense of anger while spitting out to the inquirer the rubbish phrase, “I don’t know?”
See you’ve come to a point you tried several different avenues of leisure and spectacle, but alas you find yourself staring out the window, just daydreaming about not showing up for the position you currently sit.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
-Anais Nin

Now of course there is some leeway, you need to find yourself, you need to find that spark of passion to intrigue the ultimate purpose. But, after you’ve completed your soul searching, you have to one day face yourself and the realism of dreams that reside within you.

If you are not one of these types of people, then you may know them. They seem lost because of the uncertainty. They are unsatisfied with daily activities, in all honesty, they cannot seem to find resolution to their revolution.

When we repeatedly express I don’t know, we are given such limitations on what we can conquer.

“I don’t know what I want to do.”
“I don’t know where I want to go.”
“I don’t know who I want to be.”

See those above statements? They have periods on the end of them for a reason, you aren’t asking yourself, you’re telling yourself you haven’t a clue where you wish life would lead you. The sad truth is you are confusing your life’s purpose. Maybe you don’t know, that’s fine, but stop saying it, to others and yourself.

Simple fix, take out DON’T.

Change the sentence to “I know,” and eventually it will all come together for your benefit.
See how powerful statements are when you reconfigure that way they make you feel. Even if it isn’t true. The more you think it, feel it, the more you believe it. Tell others you are figuring things out. Tell yourself things are going to be so awesome and amazing you cannot even believe how blessed your life is about to be.

“You can start out with nothing, and out of nothing and out of no way, a way will be made.”

-Reverend Michael Bernard Beckwith
